Melanie is our Lead Trainer and discovered Baptiste Power Vinyasa for the first time in 2000.  A friend and I walked by Power Yoga Works in Philadelphia.  We decided we were going to try it. I was hooked after the first class. What started as a a form of exercise has changed into an opportunity to meet and lead people from all over the world. 

Power Vinyasa Yoga is for anyone. Your race, creed, gender, socioeconomic status or lot in life doesn’t matter. All you have to do is believe the power is in you and there is no limit to what you can discover. You become more confident, more peaceful and more present”. In the Fall of 2006 Melanie decided to train to teach Power Vinyasa Yoga with Bill Raup at Power Yoga Works (Philadelphia) and share the amazing benefits of yoga with other people. “At first it was about me and now it’s not about me anymore it is about helping others. For me it is like a ministry and an opportunity to serve others. I realize that an extraordinary life happens when we think Bigger than ourselves. I am grateful to be able to share my experience and encourage others, no matter where they are headed in their own journey.” 

Before moving to Bentonville, Melanie was a studio Manager at Anjali Power Yoga (Westmont NJ). Melanie was the Director of Teacher Training and Staff Development. Melanie has studied extensively with the Baptiste Institute and Baron Baptiste. Melanie is a Certified Baptiste Teacher (Tier 3) and a graduate of the Baptiste Institute’s F.I.T to lead program and registered ERYT-500hr with the Yoga Alliance. While off the mat Melanie and her husband run a Small Business Consulting Firm in Bentonville and Homeschool their 3 boys. Melanie is a certified Group Fitness Instructor, Certified USA Track and Field Level 2 Coach. Melanie is grateful for a wonderful and supportive husband Tom Gazaway and 3 blessings Aiden (13), Zander (9) and Micah (7). 


Lynn is the Director of Teacher Training, Studio Owner, and has been practicing for 20 years.  She has owned Yoga Story for 4 years and has been part of the studio as either a teacher, manager or owner for 7 years.  She was previously the assistant to the CEO of Sam's Club and the Sr. Liaison for the Walmart Board of Directors but left the corporate world after 10 years to be an entrepreneur and find more personal fulfillment working one on one with others in their health and wellness goals.  Lynn loves sports and enjoys how yoga makes her a stronger athlete. She has completed marathons, half marathons, triathlons and tough mudders. Lynn is also a personal trainer and has studied with some amazing anatomy teachers such as Ray Long, Jamie Elmer, Leslie Howard (Pelvic Floor Yoga Teacher TM), Doug Keller, & Tias Little. She has led three 200 hour yoga alliance certified yoga teacher trainings and helped to facilitate many others. She began her 500 hour studies with Tiffany Cruikshank and the Yoga Medicine Team in October 2019. Her classes are educational and encourage you to do just as much inner work as you do outer work.

Outside of yoga, she is the mother to two boys and wife to Mike.  She loves to lift weights, run, bike and swim, listen to podcasts and read in her free time, although her full life keeps her very busy - she wouldn't imagine it any other way.



Our teacher training is a power style vinyasa training rooted in the Baptiste methodology and leadership style.  We utilize the book by Baron Baptiste, Journey Into Power & the concept of creating an extraordinary classroom experience in our teaching methodology curriculum.  Our trainees start practice teaching from Day 1.



Discover your presence and connection to teaching through the workings of the physical body.  Our program utilizes the book The Key Muscles of Yoga by Ray Long, MD & the DVD Anatomy for Yoga by Paul Grilley to facilitate discussion & dive into the different yoga poses, how they work in the body and safe ways to modify for different populations. Our training covers athletes, beginners, information on kids yoga and prenatal yoga.



Yogic lifestyle

We dive into yoga philosophy and history through the study of the yoga sutras, the yamas & niyamas, & the Hatha Yoga Family Tree.  Special guest speaker Wesley Pilcher guides trainees through the basic concepts of ayurveda, discovering your dosha and practical ways to stay balanced. Studio owner Lynn Hancock will cover ethical business practices,  social media presence, and in conducting yourself as a professional in a position of yoga teacher.
